DVSA ADI Part 2 Marking System

DVSA ADI Part 2 Test Of Driving Ability Marking System

The driving test is marked by the Examiner recording any faults that are made, and categorising how serious they are, there are 3 categories of fault recorded:-

Driving Faults

A Driving Fault is any error or any deviation from “Best practice” which does not involve any actual or potential danger.

A Driving Fault is one that is not judged to be serious enough to fail a test on its own, but accumulating seven or more driving faults will result in failing the DVSA ADI Part 2 Test.

A persistent repetition of a Driving Fault, showing a pattern in the candidate's driving, may result in a Serious Fault being marked.

Serious Faults

A Serious Fault is an error that involves potential danger, causing an unacceptable risk to either the test candidate or to other road users, or a significant deviation from Best Practice.

A Serious Fault is one that is judged to be important enough on its own to fail the DVSA ADI Part 2 Test, even if it is the only fault committed on the test.

A persistent repetition of a Driving Fault, showing a pattern in the candidate's driving, may result in a Serious Fault being marked.

Dangerous Faults

A Dangerous Fault is an error that involves actual danger, one dangerous fault will fail the DVSA ADI Part 2 Test even if it is the only fault committed on the test.

A Dangerous Fault will usually need someone to take action to avoid a crash, this could be the candidate, the examiner or another road user.
